University of Wyoming junior Adam Kalms and sophomore Ryan Nelson will do what no two swimmers for Wyoming have done in 65 years when they enter the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas this week. It will mark the first time since 1949 that two Cowboy swimmers have qualified for the NCAA Championships. Wyoming swimmers James Nolan and Marcus Hodges earned NCAA bids in 1949. The championships kick off Thursday at 10 a.m. MT and continue through Saturday evening.
Kalms is coming off a strong season that saw him break five school records. He earned First Team All-WAC in three different events at the WAC Championship earlier this month. Nelson is having a stellar second season with the Pokes earning First Team All-WAC in two events and Second Team honors in another. He rounded out his season with two school records.
