BOISE, Idaho – Boise State wrestling head coach Greg Randall announced the hiring of Taylor Meeks as assistant coach, Thursday. Meeks, who wrestled for Oregon State from 2010-15, will join the Broncos on the other end of the Border War beginning with the 2015-16 season.
“Taylor brings a lot of energy to the team,” Randall said. “He is young and motivated, and he will help out the entire team - especially the upper weights as he plans on competing on the international level.”
Meeks was a four-time qualifier to the NCAA Championships, finishing fourth and earning All-America honors at 197 pounds as a redshirt sophomore in 2013. He won the conference championship that same season, and finished runner-up at the Pac-12 Tournament three times.
“I am really happy to be here,” Meeks said. “Boise has a great community an d fan base, and this will be a great new chapter in my life. I can’t wait to help these student-athletes achieve their goals on and off the mat.”
He ranks 10th all-time for the Beavers in wins (122), 13th all-time in pins (32) and boasted a career record of 122-33 (.787). Originally from Orting, Wash., Meeks captured three state championships during his prep career at Orting High School.
